Ann Darin-Amos, MA, LMHC

Ann Darin-Amos MA, LMHC graduated from Saint Martin’s University with a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology in 2004. She completed her master’s internship hours as a Child and Family Therapist at South Mental Health Care in Tumwater. Ms.Darin-Amos then went to work as a Child and Family Therapist at Cascade Mental Health Care in Centralia. Following a move to Pierce County she joined the Child and Family Services Department at Greater Lakes Mental Health Care in Lakewood. There she provided mental health assessments and therapy to children, adolescents, young adults and their families for five years. In addition, she provided clinical supervision to master’s level interns.

After obtaining her Licensed Mental Health Counselor credential, Ms. Darin-Amos was recruited to work on Joint Base Lewis McChord, to provide counseling to active duty members of the military and their families. Her time in this position has afforded her the opportunity to learn more about the specific stressors and challenges faced by this group.

In 2013 Ms. Darin-Amos opened a private practice in Gig Harbor where she provided treatment to adolescents, adults and couples. The majority of Ms. Darin-Amos’ private practice caseload consisted of members of the LGBTQ community and specifically individuals who identify as transgender. As a result, Ms. Darin-Amos has gained the knowledge and skills necessary to provide informed, compassionate and respectful care to this often underserved population.

Ms. Darin-Amos enjoys working with all age groups and has significant experience treating trauma survivors and those diagnosed with depression, other mood disorders, anxiety, adjustment issues and behavioral disorders. She utilizes a multiple modality treatment approach built upon a strong foundation of family systems, person-centered, and cognitive behavioral theories.
