Lisa ChristiansenLisa Christensen, MA, LMHC, graduated from Bastyr University with a masters degree in applied behavioral science in 2007.  Ms. Christensen completed her Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) internship at Renton Area Youth Services, a non-profit agency in Renton WA.  There she worked with youth and their families.  After completing her internship, she continued to work at the non-profit agency as an employee for several years, working in middle and high schools, as well as seeing clients and their families at the agency.

For a period of time after leaving the non-profit, Ms. Christensen worked in the crisis unit of the Providence Hospital ER in Olympia, Washington.  She was in charge of managing suicidal patients and helping individuals with severe mental health issues.  Ms. Christensen also worked closely with patients suffering with drug and alcohol addiction.

Following her ER experience, Ms. Christensen worked in a clinic setting at Good Samaritan Behavioral Health in Puyallup, Washington, helping individuals of all ages with mental health issues.  In the clinic setting she also collaborated with other medical providers to manage patient mental health care more efficiently and effectively.

Ms. Christensen enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults of all ages.  She works with mood disorders, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and life transitions.  She also enjoys working with couples and family issues.

Ms. Christensen uses a humanistic approach to treatment.  She employs a variety of therapeutic techniques depending upon the patient’s needs.  This includes Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and mindfulness techniques.
